Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy

Red Chili Handelsvertretung – the German based company is the sole distributor for Wild Country and Red Chili in German speaking countries such as Germany, Switzerland and Austria and also covers Italy too.

Uwe Hofstaedter, is the Managing Director and has been an avid climber since he first touched rock in the mid 70's. Uwe leads the RC-Handelsvertretung team including such strong climbers as the Swiss Urs Odermatt who serves the shops and dealers in and around the Alps.
And even though modern European sport climbing is mainly lead by clipping bolts there are still many areas where "gear" is demanded. Not only for alpine climbing, but also for places like the sandstone towers of the Pfalz or classic limestone crags as found in the Donautal where the placement of Rocks and Friends to avoid grounders and make you feel a bit more comfortable!

As a continental climber Uwe was first introduced into the art of placing nuts and Friends by the late Jim Jewell. His first experiences were on historic routes as Yankee Doodle, Déjà Vu, Cenotaph Corner and a Dream of White Horses and all on his first climbing trip to UK to Cornwall and North Wales in 1980. And even nowadays he's still practicing placements during his climbing trips around the world, mainly accompanied by his friend and Red Chili partner Stefan Glowacz.

Japan

Wild Country’s Japanese partner has one of the best established networks of stores in the Japan and is also an internationally recognised brand in its own right.

"Isam Tatsuno, the founder of MontBell, was 21 years old and on his first climbing trip outside of Japan when he tackled the Eiger. So in 1969 Tatsuno had become the youngest person to climb the Eiger's North Wall, and his 21-hour ascent to the summit was the fastest ever, and thus it was in the high mountains that MontBell was born - on the North Face of the Eiger."
