Hot youth (!?)(i hope that doesn't sound too questionable. Ed) James Pearson has added another big tick to his bouldering CV with the first ascent of 'Keen Youth' V13 at Raven Tor, Peak District UK. A short sequence of James moving from the kneebar into the crux of the problem just before the slap.... An improbable line, the problem goes directly through the roof circumnavigated by 'Bens Roof', making it not only very steep but also taking one of the few bits of unclimbed rock at Raven Tor... Eyed for years by many steely fingered locals this desperate addition weighs in as one of the hardest sequences on Peak Limestone. Starting from a sitting position a the back of the cave, James then moved into a kneebar at the juction with Bens roof before a hideous crux which moves out on two tiny pockets to a way gnarly slap for a none too large hold round the roof... I was watching James try this a couple of weeks ago and believe me it looked truly grim.....but managed to get a few snaps... Click here to see James Pearsons full profile...
