Here's an update from my new buddy Talo Martin, Spainish resident and local expert at Pedriza, near Madrid, where his speciality consists of desperate slabs and horrible, scary aid routes. One of the local kids on the 'Houlding Slab, 7a, as described by Talo below... This winter he headed for Morocco where he was discovering new routes and boulders and meeting and making new friends....and meeting up with old ones. This was Talo's second trip and this time some of the kids they had met the first time in Morocco and introduced to climbing had really progressed. Talo takes up the story... "Basically we bolted a lot of routes and cleaned lots of new boulders. The wall in the pictures is the bomb. We did a new 7c nails slab route there, and as well we leave proyects for next years. Also we met with our kids from 3 years ago, and then we gave them almost 10 pairs of climbing shoes, one crash-pad, chalk.., and of course lots of clothes and shoes for them and their brothers and sisters(toundsands..) One of them, Ahab, did the Houlding slab (the first picture), nails 7a, he is soooo motivated climbing with us. It's difficult because you can not speak a lot with them, just by signs and some Bereber vocabulary but i really feel climbing is something they need. It's incredible to see his eyes and feel what they feel climbing a simple piece of rock. Anyway back in Madrid now so I'll keep you updated on my projects and routes Hasta luego, Talo..."
