Well what is it with team Wild Country at the minute...things are just going down....first James Pearson gets only the 2nd ever V13 / 8B boulder flash (see http://www.wildcountry.co.uk/News/Article248.htm ) then Katherine Schirrmacher ups her game with a rare female ascent of a grit E7.... Katherine on top the world - and on top of Balance It Is E7 6C, Burbage South, Peak District UK...many thanks for photo ALEX MESSENGER... Katherine, who has been climbing really well recently, after her trip to Hueco and lots of hardcore bouldering ( see http://www.wildcountry.co.uk/Community/blog/Article254.htm ) has put it to good use with an ascent of this modern classic three star route which takes a bold (but protected) arete at Burbage North in the UK. So Katherine joins a very small club which (if i recall correctly) only includes Airlie Anderson, Lisa Rands + Lucinda Hughes.... Anyway Katherine takes up the story: "I did it yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Still can't really believe it. 3rd time lucky I managed to scrape my way up the route. The first 2 times involved a very boring plop onto the high Superlite Rock (No1). Only after the second fall did my nerves go away! Due to the fact that is well protected (one of the reasons I picked it), it meant the climbing was quite precarious and difficult and it took me a while to become consistent on the moves. Over the last 2 weeks I've been top-roping the barn-doory arete and I finally succeeded yesterday under the watchful lenses of the guys at Hot Aches. They are filming for their forthcoming film about trad climbing in the UK "Committed" due out in October. Thanks, Katherine
