Rich Simpson shocks Spain stealing Andrada 9A project 22/03/2006
Rich Simpson shocked Spanish climbing and started a new chapter for himself with his ascent of the climbing legend Dani Andrada's project at Siurana. On a short trip to this fierce crag Rich managed to send the awesome wall after a few days of effort confirming the grade, 9A and the quality fo the line which takes the most imposing headwall on the crag. A couple of pictures of Rich on the actual ascent - courtesy of Alex Messenger Speaking yesterday he was mega-psyched about it, this being his first hard new route as well and said "It's a brilliant feeling to have done such a great route on a great crag. I was a bit shocked to send it as Dani had spent a long time on it as well as other people and i only had a few days here. But it suited me, lots of two finger pocket cranking and I'm still used that from Action Direct." Rich has kept the name of the route the same 'A Muerte' or 'To the Death'. As well as this route Rich also managed to On-site an 8A+, Flash an 8B, and redpoint another 8C to add to his burgeoning ticklist...
