The idea of this section is to give an overview of what gear Wild Country would recommend for setting up a rack across a variety of climbing situations across the globe. There will also be tips and hints about racking up, knots and other pearls of wisdom... We hope there will be advice suitable for experts and beginners alike and across a variety of rock types, route lengths and styles of climbing: cracks, walls, slabs or roofs....and for different countries USA UK and other more obscure destinations... These sections have been put together by a variety of persons and personalities from sponsored climbers to local heros or experts at the particular game. |

This section should be ever expanding as we try to get feedback for the widest variety of areas and we are certainly happy to receive ideas from you guys and gals out there. Just use our feedback form to get some info to us and if we feel it is good we can put it on the site to spread the word. As we all know gear selection and racking is very personal so these recommendations are not strict rules but just guidelines that you may find useful. Obviously we will be mainly recommending Wild Country equipment as we feel we have a wide enough range to cover most areas and most circumstances however, in some cases we will recommend some generic items that we don't cover i.e. big walling, Alpine... In these selections we will be aware of finances and put cheaper alternatives – but it is to be borne in mind that these will nearly always weigh more. Bearing in mind Wild Country’s philosophy of ‘light being right’ we would advise that if you’re serious about making improvements in your climbing or even simply maintaining your grade it’s always better to spend a little more and save weight where you can. Bear in mind most kit will last you a very long time so if you start with the best and lightest you’ll be giving yourself the biggest advantage… |

Not your typical rack - a big wall collection of cams - which might make the most difficult bit leaving the ground....
