So the TIPP or Tie In Point Protector therefore, does exactly what it name suggests and is a nifty little product that can be bought as an add on, and used to give you an extra cover over the tie in point. The TIPP can be used both in advance and retrospectively: A. Advance - simply put a TIPP on your harness as you buy it and when it wears out, and before the actual tie in point on the harness starts to wear simply replace it and keep your harness fresh. B. Retrospectively - if you notice your harness wearing and the red showing through you can (before you go through the red webbing) purchase a TIPP and simply add it to your worn model to extend its life. The TIPP is easy to apply, simply velcroing into place and gives you piece of mind - especially when you're sports climbing and dogging a lot... In fact this was inspired by our combined sports climbing experiences of seeing guys, who had less money than sense, using gaffa / Duck tape to reinforce their belay loops - but way too late...resulting in some pretty hairy scenes. Note #1: If your harness has worn down through to the webbing and this webbing is also worn we would strenuously recommend that you replace your harness. Note #2: Wild Country still recommends that you follow the UIAA recommendations for harness retirement which gives a active lifespan of 5 years. |
