Hints and Tips

This section of the site is all about Wild Country people passing on some of the knowledge gained over the years about various aspects of gear, from placing it to carrying it and beyond.

These may not necessarily be all about Wild Country gear, and all of it may not be factual; there will be opinions and ideas on many aspects and styles of climbing, but it should all be useful on quests from big walls to the gritstone edges.

Also this advice will not always come from Wild Country but will be in in association with its sponsored climbers, testers and other ne’er do wells who we rely on for advice. However, within this section we will be always open to receiving hints, tips or ideas that we may not have thought of from you ‘Joe Public’. So you may well see advice from people like Andy Kirkpatrick, Airlie Anderson or Steve Petro next to some guy who’s e-mailed us from Alaska about the best way of racking biners we’ve ever seen…..

Also this advice is not meant to be parochial so we will be endeavouring to build a base of knowledge that will be suitable for a wide variety of people. From those starting out in climbing, to people visiting an area they don’t know or moving on to a style of climbing they’re unfamilar with.
